Please join us for a Conversation on Health Disparities with Dr. Elena Delavega, lead author of the Memphis Poverty Fact Sheet. Join us for lunch and learn about what poverty in Memphis really looks like, and how things are, or are not, changing. Dr. Delavega is a professor of Social Work at the University of Memphis and has been the lead author of the Memphis Poverty Fact Sheet since 2012.If you’ve ever seen Memphis poverty statistics quoted in the news, they’re likely relying on Dr. Delavega’s work.  You can RSVP for the lunch and lecture via Engage here.

 

Dr. Delavega is a professor of Social Work at the University of Memphis. "My research interest is Poverty, and the intersection of oppression, marginalization, and exclusion; the role of education, disabilities, and ontologies. My foci are sustainable economic development, poverty remediation, wages, the relationship between education and capital, capital transformations, and immigration."
