About this Event
Join our very own Dr. Jessi Gold on Thursday, October 17, at noon in the Mooney Library for a panel discussion and book signing for Dr. Gold’s poignant new memoir, How Do You Feel? One Doctor's Search for Humanity in Medicine.
Dr. Gold, Chief Wellness Officer for the University of Tennessee System and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, will share her personal journey and insights from her latest work. How Do You Feel? is a deeply reflective memoir that intertwines her own experiences with those of four healthcare professionals grappling with the intense emotional and physical demands of their careers. The book sheds light on the often-hidden struggles faced by those who are dedicated to caring for others, revealing the profound challenges and transformative realizations that come with the territory.
The panel discussion featuring members of the UT Health Science Center community will center around themes of empathy, burnout, perfectionism, and the quest for personal well-being within the demanding healthcare field. Attendees will gain perspective on maintaining humanity and resilience in an industry that can sometimes demand more than it gives.
After the panel discussion Dr. Gold will sign copies of How Do You Feel? and engage with attendees. Copies of the book will be available for sale at the event and there will be a raffle to give away 10 copies! Light refreshments will also be served.
Don’t miss this chance to participate in a thoughtful discussion, gain insight and normalization into the challenges faced by healthcare professionals, and get your copy of Dr. Gold's powerful memoir.
