2019 Campus Promotion and Tenure Session at GEB A202

Wednesday, September 25, 2019

This session is for anyone interested in knowing more about the promotion and tenure process at UTHSC. This session is for you if you're a) new to UTHSC, b) if you've not gone up for tenure or promotion since the 2018 revised UTHSC Faculty Handbook, or c) if you're someone who reviews and/or supports faculty as they go through the tenure and promotion process.

Plan to join Lori Gonzalez, UTHSC's Chief Academic Officer and Vice Chancellor of Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs and Cindy Russell, Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs for this Fall 2019 Campus Promotion and Tenure session.

During this session, we’ll cover basic information to demystify the P&T process, including an overview of the levels of the process and reviews (department, college, campus, system), relevant Faculty Handbook sections, timetables, promotion metric, discussion of dossiers, tips for getting your CV in order, staying on track over the years (with APPR and mid-tenure reviews), useful resources, and how faculty members can stay informed about the process (as the dossier is reviewed at each level).

Submit questions you'd like to have us address during the session.

Note that the Faculty Handbook underwent some significant changes related to the tenure and promotion processes in 2018 that you’ll want to know about. You can access the August 2018 updated UTHSC Faculty Handbook at UTHSC’s policy repository. Here is the direct link to our Handbook.

This session is NOT a substitute for talking with your department chair, chairs of your department and/or college Promotion and Tenure committees, or senior faculty in your department or college. Rather, it is intended to provide a broader perspective of the promotion and tenure processes and make sure you’re familiar with some of the recent changes in the Faculty Handbook that are relevant to these processes.

We look forward to seeing you at this session.
